My name is Shaïna. It means “beautiful” in Yiddish.
I’m a first generation Haitian-American, raised by a family of Entrepreneurs, Artists and Philanthropists.
I got my start in the business world at six years old, helping my mother run her children’s shoes store, and my grandmother run her flower shop in Haiti’s capital: Port-au-Prince. I credit my love for entrepreneurship to those early years of watching the strong women in my family build something out of nothing.
When I turned ten, my family moved to the United States due to political turmoil in Haiti. My parents went on to start a boutique consulting company, providing information technology services to governments and businesses (a company that is still going strong today).
I spent many summer vacations working as the receptionist in their company, and in the process gained a love for technology and innovation.
Fast forward to today!
I went on to study Business and Technology at Babson College, and garnered 10+ years of experience in Management and Strategy Consulting since. I’ve had the pleasure of living and working in Silicon Valley, and in various countries across Europe and Africa, advising corporations as well as governments on their business transformation strategy, and how to innovate in the advent of technological disruption.
In addition to my professional work, I launched a social enterprise called The #SHE_BUILDS Global Initiative, focused on investing in women entrepreneurs from my native Haiti. Since its inception in 2018, the platform has grown a leadership network that spans 20 cities across 4 continents.
My vision is to position Haiti as a destination for innovation, with women leading the New Economy. Let’s connect!
