Digital Haiti: An entire Nation on the Blockchain — Part 1

It’s been over 400 years since enslaved Africans were brought into the ‘New World’ like new born babies forming their flesh in an unfamiliar worldly dimension — hearts racing, muscles flexing, feet trembling, eyes watering, sweat dripping: ‘Dear African, Welcome to the ‘New World’.

We were prisoners long before our feet touched the soil of the Americas, captives from tribal wars and greedy commercial exchanges all along the West and Central African Coast.

From Congo to Angola, the Bight of Biafra to the Bight of Benin, we were packed together like sardines from a fisherman’s fresh catch, ready for shipment and sale in the global marketplace.

Roots of a Nation:

Transposed from our native African ecosystems, we were cast into foreign fields of cotton and sugar cane, toiling the new earth under a hot sun, tortured with whips and chains like beasts of burden to build a Nation.

For over four centuries, we labored on plantations as branded property, stripped of our tribal names, and made to believe that our ‘black race’ was inferior.

For over four centuries, as our proprietors re-formatted our operating systems with new religions, languages, and customs, we morphed into blended beings, drawing our memories into the dirt with white chalk — keeping close to us the warrior spirit of our ancestors #vodou.
